NOVEMBER 29TH, 2022
Imagine being a mom with toddlers in a home with no electricity. Or a senior with rheumatoid arthritis and no heat. Or being a home health aide who has fallen behind in rent when his hours were cut due to the hospitalization of his client. GACM is here to help people who find themselves in similar situations most often through no fault of their own.
The cost of basic necessities has steadily increased. 100 gallons of oil cost $389 in February, $489 in April, and $579 in October. Rents are going through the roof and moving just isn't an option since safe, affordable housing isn't readily available. If found, few have the minimum three months rent needed for security, first and last month rent. Nor do they have the cost for a mover.
GACM is here to help those in crisis but we need your help to do so.
Your gifts will be used to help with rent, security, utility assistance or provide healthy food to be prepared in one's home.
Our assistance is given with compassion and can help make the difference for people who have given up hope.
$35 will provide a holiday meal.
$400 can help with a utility shut off
$579 can purchase 100 gallons of oil.
$1000 may pay a full month's rent or repair a hot water heater
Your gifts both large and small will help us to continue to help others.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors!
Our mission is to connect at-risk Northwest Philadelphia residents to resources within themselves and the community, that resolve their crises, stabilize their lives and equip them to take the next step(s) toward self-sufficiency.
GACM operates with the support of 2 social workers, an administrative assistant, and a host of regular volunteers who donate over 100 hours of service each week. Ad-hoc volunteers provide additional support during the holiday season and for other special activities.
